Nominator's project description

Dr. Lye is a leading anthropologist focusing on hunter-gatherers and human-environment relations. Her work with the Batek people of Malaysia and other groups in Southeast Asia is an important contribution to research on rainforest peoples, their knowledge, cultural ecology, and adjustments to social and environmental change. Dr. Lye combines deep regional knowledge with advances in comparative anthropological theory and multi-media ethnographic methodology. In Germany, she will continue her research on ecology, hunter-gatherers, and mobility.
